Terms of Service - Career Keel

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Career Keel at careerkeel.com (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

The Service is operated by Bizorca LLC, a Washington state limited liability company ("we," "us," or "our"). These Terms govern your use of all Career Keel features, including the free quiz, free account features, and any paid tiers.

2. Description of Service

Career Keel is a career assessment tool that helps individuals understand their professional interests, work values, and potential career directions. The Service includes:

A 72-question interest assessment and 8-part work-values ranking
Scored career profiles across six interest dimensions and eight value dimensions
Career match rankings drawn from the O*NET occupational database
Optional paid features including AI-generated career analysis, PDF export, personality assessments (DISC, Jungian Type, Growth Compass/OCEAN, Enneagram, Skills Profile), and a Career Transition Toolkit

The Service is intended for personal, informational use. It is not a substitute for professional career counseling, psychological testing, or licensed vocational advice.

3. Accounts

You may take the quiz anonymously, but creating a free account is required to save your results. You agree to:

Provide accurate information when registering
Keep your password confidential and not share your account with others
Notify us promptly at [email protected] if you suspect unauthorized access to your account

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

4. Paid Plans and Payments

4a. Available plans

Free: no charge; includes saved results and top 11 career matches.
Premium ($29 one-time): a single, non-recurring charge that permanently unlocks the full Premium feature set including personality assessments, full career list, PDF export, and BLS salary data.
Pathfinder ($59 one-time): a single, non-recurring charge that includes all Premium features plus the Personalized Career Report, Career Transition Toolkit, resume input, AI LinkedIn bio, 90-day action plan, and more.
Pathfinder Upgrade ($30 one-time): existing Premium users can upgrade to Pathfinder for the difference.

4b. Billing

All payments are processed by Stripe. By purchasing a plan, you authorize Stripe to charge your payment method. All current plans are one-time purchases — there are no recurring charges. You can view your purchase history from the Billing page in your account settings.

4c. Refunds

We offer a 7-day refund window on new purchases. If you are not satisfied with your purchase, email [email protected] within 7 days of your initial payment and we will issue a full refund, no questions asked. After 7 days, purchases are non-refundable.

4d. Price changes

We reserve the right to change pricing. Existing purchasers retain the features they paid for permanently, regardless of future price changes.

5. AI-Generated Content

Certain features of Career Keel use the Claude API by Anthropic, PBC to generate personalized content including career analyses, LinkedIn bios, action plans, pivot narratives, interview questions, and job search strategies.

You acknowledge and agree that:

AI-generated content is produced by a large language model and may contain errors, omissions, or inaccuracies. It is provided for informational and inspirational purposes only.
AI-generated career guidance is not a substitute for licensed career counseling, psychological assessment, or professional advice.
When you use an AI-powered feature, your assessment data (scores, archetypes, top matches, and quiz context — but not your email or name) is transmitted to Anthropic's servers to generate the content. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Your use of AI-powered features is subject to Anthropic's Acceptable Use Policy. You agree not to attempt to use Career Keel to circumvent, probe, or manipulate Anthropic's AI systems.
AI-generated content belongs to you for your personal use. You may copy, adapt, and use it freely. We retain no ownership claim over output generated for your account.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws
Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service or its underlying systems
Scrape, crawl, or systematically extract data from the Service without our written permission
Impersonate another person or entity
Share your account credentials or allow others to access the Service using your account
Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service
Use the Service to generate content that is harmful, deceptive, or in violation of Anthropic's Acceptable Use Policy
Interfere with the operation of the Service or the servers and networks connected to it

7. Intellectual Property

The Career Keel name, logo, assessment methodology, question bank, scoring algorithms, and website design are our intellectual property. Nothing in these Terms grants you a license to use our trademarks or proprietary content beyond what is necessary to use the Service as intended.

Career occupational data in the Service is sourced from the O*NET database, a public resource of the U.S. Department of Labor. Earnings data is sourced from the U.S. Census Bureau PSEO program. BLS salary data is sourced from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. These government datasets are in the public domain.

The IPIP personality items used in the Growth Compass assessment are in the public domain, courtesy of the International Personality Item Pool (ipip.ori.org).

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that:

The Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components
The results of using the Service will be accurate, complete, or suitable for any particular purpose
Career matches, AI-generated analysis, or any other output will predict actual career outcomes or job market success

Career Keel is an exploratory self-assessment tool. Career outcomes depend on many factors outside the scope of any assessment instrument.

9. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL CAREER KEEL OR JASSEN BOWMAN BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF GOODWILL, OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR $50, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, so the above limitations may not apply to you.

10. Third-Party Services

The Service integrates with Stripe for payments and Anthropic for AI features. Your use of those integrations is also subject to their respective terms:

We are not responsible for the practices, content, or availability of any third-party service.

11. Career Coach Program

Career Keel offers a program for career coaches. Coaches may:

Invite clients to Career Keel using a personal referral code
Grant Premium or Pathfinder access to clients as part of their coaching practice
View their clients' assessment scores, career matches, and AI-generated analysis

If you connect your account to a coach, you consent to sharing your assessment data with that coach. You may disconnect from a coach at any time, which immediately revokes their access to your data. Access granted by a coach depends on the coach maintaining an active subscription — if a coach's subscription lapses, any access they granted will be revoked.

12. Modifications to the Service

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time. We will make reasonable efforts to communicate material changes.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by updating the effective date above. Continued use of the Service after the effective date of revised Terms constitutes your acceptance.

14. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions. Any dispute arising under these Terms shall be resolved through binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, except that either party may seek injunctive relief in a court of competent jurisdiction for matters involving intellectual property or unauthorized access.

If you are located in the European Union, nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
